Just north of Brisbane a most strange-looking eruption of peaks strikes the eye. They were actually intruded into sandstones millions of years ago (on Gondwana) and the overburden has eroded to reveal them. Thus although volcanic, they were never volcanoes as such.

We took a day out to visit the coast.
We were not the only ones.
