Inside the Castle
The double door entrance had the stone above them to prevent their being levered upwards and off their hinges. The huge slots in the wall took baulks of timber to keep them shut.

The view from the top of the keep shows how far the sea has retreated since medieval times, when the sea was close to the castle. The Orford Ness is almost an island, but it protects this shoreline from the sea. Part of it is an RSPB bird reserve.
