Flagstaff Arizona
Flew in and picked up our car. Right Hand driving, Aargh! Spent the first evening driving round Flagstaff in the dark getting Helen's cell ph working with new SIM. Success AND we survived! My side panel on the car caught the interest of the local geologists and we enjoyed a great chat with them. They are having a field trip here tomorrow to see a young graben (2-3myr) and a volcanic field of 6-8 myrs. Surprising to find such recent activity here. Even more recent was the Sunset Crater lava flows 1000 yrs ago and the Quakes in the last six months, a respectable 4.7 magnitude. Our thanks to the Arizona Geo Soc and A G Survey for the interesting notes describing the action! |
Exciting pictures below. Impossible to put camera away. Had thunderstorm and got cold; this after 100 deg F two days ago.
